10 Things Every Homeschool Mom Should Have

10 Things Every Homeschool Mom Should Have

As homeschool moms, we love to buy things to use in our homeschool, and just about nothing tops the excitement of getting our new curriculum in the mail! I mean… who doesn’t love opening that brand new (or used)box of books! When homeschool supplies come out at the store… it’s like Christmas morning! Brand new pencils, dry erase markers, whiteboards…. (I can’t be the only one who feels this way!)

10 things every homeschool mom should have

But, each year that I’ve homeschooled my children, I’ve figured out more and more that there are certain things that I just can’t live without in my homeschool classroom. So, aside from all the necessary supplies that you will need (pencils, pens, paper, erasers, etc)… I have narrowed my list down to:

10 awesome things that every homeschool mom should have in their lives.

#1 10 Drawer Rolling Storage Cart

I finally caved and bought 3 of these for my oldest kids about 2 years into homeschooling, and I will be buying them for my youngest 2 children as well! I love my 10 drawer carts. Even if you are not doing the workbox system, they are a great organizational tool for homeschoolers.

I love my laminator. This is one of those things that I wish I would’ve bought much sooner! Having a laminator is a lifesaver! Especially if you have flashcards or worksheets that you want to last through all of your children!

#3 Laminating Pouches

If you are going to have a laminator, you need the laminating pouches as well. You can purchase them at WalMart or Target, but they are cheaper through Amazon! You get more for your $$$.

#4 Calendar Pocket Chart

This is great if you are homeschooling younger kids. This calendar is reversible! There are Spanish words on the back, so you could pull this out to use with a child who is learning Spanish. We used it to teach basic calendar skills and while we were doing that, we introduced the days of the week and months of the year in Spanish!

#6 Magnetic Dry Erase Board

I recommend getting a magnetic one for sure! I bought mine when I started using All About Spelling. It was great for holding all of our magnetic phonics letter tiles. I now have two dry erase boards! One larger one, and one smaller one!

#7 3 Hole Punch

I use mine every. single. day.

#8 Electric Pencil Sharpener

A really good pencil sharpener!!!

I have learned my lesson! With all the money I have spent replacing broken cheapo pencil sharpeners, I should’ve just bought a better quality one from the get-go. Oh well… you live and you learn.

# 9 World Globe and/or Wall Maps

A world map and a map of the U.S. (or whatever country you live in.)

#10Kindle/Tablet or laptop/ computer

I recommend having a Kindle or a tablet with the Kindle app on it. It is excellent for downloading ebooks for your kids.

There are a ton of FREE ebooks on Amazon for homeschoolers!
