Destroying Fear and Doubt

Destroying Fear and Doubt

Fear and doubt creep into our lives from every angle. Whether we are worrying about how we are going to pay the next bill or doubting you will ever succeed at your next task. Let me tell you… fear and doubt are a lie! You don’t have to live in that lie anymore!

Today as I was reading my Bible, I decided to flip through (as I often do) to see if any scripture stood out to me. Also to skim some of the notes I had made in the margin. As I was flipping through, I came across this scripture that was used by my late pastor in a message 14 years ago.

Psalm 118: 5-10

5>>I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

6>>The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

7>>The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.

8>>It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

9>>It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

10>>All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.

God is on MY side!

I don’t remember what her message was, but these words in this passage hit home for me. Especially this verse >>

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”

There is nothing for me to fear. There is no situation that God cannot handle. A song my mother used to sing when I was a child went like this: “The battle’s not mine, said little David, Lord it’s thine, I’m in your favor…” God wants us to give our problems and our troubles to him. The battle that we are fighting is not ours to begin with. Whether it be sickness, fear, or doubt. God knows, and understands. He wants take those problems and bear them for us.

I have always been one to worry. I worry about my children, my finances, my abilities as a stay at home homeschool mom. “Am I good enough?” “Am I doing the right thing?” “How will we ever afford this or that.” But, I have to constantly remind myself that God is on my side. I have no reason to worry or fear. Just turn it over to God, and he will do the rest.

Trust in the Lord

8>>It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

9>>It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says this:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Those are 2 of my favorite scriptures. All we have to do is trust in him, and lean not on our own understanding. I know that last part is a little hard. Especially for me. There are so many times when I find myself trying to figure out my problems, and feeling like there is no way that there will ever be a solution. But God’s ways are so beyond us. He sees into the future…. he sees the big picture.
There’s a situation we’ve been praying about in our home for the last several years. It has taken a long time for the answer to get here. There  has been door after door shut in our faces, but God had a bigger and better plan for our lives. Now that things are starting to unfold, I can see why God let some of the other opportunities slip past us. So, don’t get discouraged, his timing is the best timing. Just think of how Mary and Martha felt when their brother Lazarus was sick, and Jesus waited until he’d been dead for 4 days to come. But, he did come, and he did something that they never even expected. He raised Lazarus from the grave!
He has the unexpected for you, too!!

The key to destroying your fear and doubt

10>>All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.

I love this! It is so powerful! There is power in his name. As I said earlier, God is on our side. He wants what is best for us. We can destroy the enemy, and destroy our problems in the name of the Lord. No matter what hardships you are facing. If you feel like the walls are closing in around you, and you don’t really know what to do. Just speak the name of Jesus. There is power in that name to destroy those doubts and fears that are in your life. When you find yourself doubting your capabilities as a mother or a father, just speak his name.

Stability and Reliability

I don’t have everything figured out, but I know in whom I can place my trust. God is faithful and his love endures to the end.
