Summertime! The kids look forward to it all year. When it finally rolls around, they are super excited. It means more free time! More time to do the things that they love to do like playing outdoors and riding bikes. The excitement lasts for a week… or two. Then all of the excitement turns to: “I’m bored!”, “There’s nothing to do!” and,”It’s too hot outside!” Maybe it’s just my kids, but this is what happens every.single.time. So, today I have come up with a list of 40 fun summer activities for kids to help ward off those cries of boredom when the Summertime excitement wears off.

1. Stables

2. Picking Berries

3. Zoo Trip

4. National or State Parks

5. Hiking

6. Camping (indoors or out!)

7. Museums (Natural History, Art, Children’s, etc.)

8. Fishing (on the bank or on a boat)

9. Library (Summer programs)

10. Botanical Gardens

11. Wildlife/Nature Preserve

12. Swimming (pool or lake)

13. Kayaking

14. Fish Hatchery

15. Exotic Animal Farms

16. Theme Park

17. Science Center (good for rainy or hot days)

18. Beach

19. Aquarium

20. Waterpark or Splash pad

21. Park

22. Sprinklers or Slip-n-slide in your backyard

23. Fireworks Shows

24. Go for snow cones or ice cream

25. Roast hot-dogs or marshmallows over a fire at night.

26. Play in a creek.

27. Trampoline Parks

29. Caves or Caverns (caves/caverns are a good cool escape from Summer heat)

31. Mowing Lawns for $$ (my son is doing this over the Summer)

32. Bike riding (at home, a park, or bike trail)

34. Picnicking (Sometimes we just picnic in our front yard when the weather is nice.)

 35. Summer Camps

36. Yard Cleanup (pulling weeds, planting/maintaining flower beds, landscaping, etc.)

38. Sidewalk Chalk

39. Family reunions and get-togethers.

40. Play wiffle ball. (This is a favorite pass-time at our house!)
