Living Books on Ancient History
We own most of these ancient history books, but I did add in a couple that come highly recommended from other homeschool moms.
Story of the World Volume 1
The Story of the World series is an excellent resource for any time period. Volume 1 covers Ancient history. Volume 2 covers Middle Ages. The 3rd volume is Early Modern & the 4th is modern. We’ve used all 4 volumes and I highly recommend them!
The History of the Ancient World
I personally have not read this one, but it’s by the same author as Story of the World, and I’ve heard great things about this series that’s geared toward an older audience.
A Child’s History of the World
A Child’s History of the World is another one that is a must-have for the bookshelf of any homeschool family.
The Story of the Ancient World
We initially read this book during our first year using A Gentle Feast. She puts together an awesome booklist for you & this one was among our favorites

A must-read ancient history book for grades 4th-7th. A lot of people like to read this one leading up to Christmas time.
D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths
D’Aulaires’ books are some of my favorites. The Book of Greek Myths does not disappoint as far as ancient history books are concerned.
Archimedes and the Door of Science
I would recommend this one to 5-6th graders. It can also double as a living science book!
